What the single deflection grilles (SDG) is.

The series of Single Deflection Grille (SDG) incorporates a single level of individually adjustable blades, Single Deflection grilles are a step up from supply units like air valves. Able to handle much larger air volumes, and with the adjustable blades enabling throw to be directed anywhere in a single plane. When being used for extract this result in the advantages of being able to handle greater air volumes.

What the double deflection grilles (DDG) is.

The series of Double Deflection Grille (DDG) with two levels of individually adjustable blades, Series DDG are more suited to supply applications than their Single Deflection (SDG) cousins. Just like SDG grilles though, Double Deflection grilles are suitable for a wide range of settings, including ceilings, walls and on ductwork.

The two rows of blades are set at 90 degrees to each other, with one row set just behind the front most row. Gaps between the blades are sufficient to allow easy adjustment of blades, enabling custom blow patterns to be created. Whether these be targeted towards one area, or fanned out to affect a wide area.
